Formal Hairstyles

If you’ve ever felt pressure about your hairstyle before a wedding or fancy event, congratulations, you’re officially part of thousands of women who brush through every hairstyle gallery on the internet to find formal hairstyles and scour the magazine racks for hair style ideas.  Surely you’re bound to find an overwhelming amount of different hairstyles but how do you know which ones will suit you for that special day?  In one simple answer: try them all out.  Obviously one can’t put on extensions, color their hair and undo everything they’ve done in a couple of hours to try something else with it however, by booking an appointment with a professional stylist, one can spend a couple of hours trying simpler ideas and getting professional advice based on shape face, features and complexion.  Don’t wait until the day of the event to experiment yourself.

Whether your hair is short or long, no longer matters in this modern day of extensions.  Because of this, a woman is never limited to the number or length of hairs on her head.  Colors in every hue are on the hairstylists’ pallet and in a matter of minutes, one can enter a salon, choose anything from a formal hairstyles catalogue and wham, presto, she walks out with the very same look.

For most major events, the updo is perhaps the most popular hair trend to date.  Fortunately, it’s been redesigned to go beyond the famous tightly rolled bun at the top of the head which is better left to ballet dancers.  In this day and age, the updo has taken on an entirely new appeal with funky twists that give the ever classic look a seductive stylish feel.  Looser hair, side swept bangs, a head full of curls are only a few of the many possible formal hairstyles created with an updo.

Wedding Hairstyles

From the pre-planning stages right up to the wedding day, every bride wants things to be flawless on her special day including her hair.  To most brides, their choices are often narrowed down to a mere handful of formal hairstyles which are carefully selected.  The end result is often a big part of who they are and therefore it has to be impeccable, suit them perfectly and make them feel at ease years after the fact when they look at pictures from the past.

Along with the makeup and dress, wedding hairstyles have to reflect the bride herself and shouldn’t be pretentious or over elaborate if it isn’t captivating who she really is.  Besides being mentally comfortable, a bride’s hairstyle has to be physically comfortable as well and shouldn’t have accessories or hair extensions that will irritate her head all evening.  As the old adage goes,  one has to let her hair down and even though not necessarily in the literal sense, she has to feel such comfort on her special day that she can emotionally be relaxed and enjoy herself without worrying too much about her hairstyle falling out of place.

Wedding hairstyles are often fancied up with flowers, tiaras or clips but a bride always has to consider these hair accessories when choosing a veil.  As gorgeous as a hairstyle is, it has to be created in such a way that it can withstand a lot of dancing, tight hugs, and veil pulls as well as hold its own without a veil to enhance it.  Several things to consider with wedding hairstyles are comfort, trueness to character, wedding theme if any and durability.  For any type of hair, there certainly isn’t a shortage of hair style ideas.  Any haircut gallery will show formal hairstyles perfect for any special occasion.

Prom Hairstyles

A prom night to a teenager is very similar to that of a woman’s wedding day.  Both put emphasis on the dress, the makeup, and the hair; in other words, the over all look in general.  For the prom, a teenager’s hair is considered her best accessory.  Even if her dress is the prettiest one there, the right formal hairstyle will add the necessary details to any outfit.  Formal hairstyles websites and magazines provide soon to be prom goers with every type of possibility via a hairstyle gallery.  Although it might seem easier to create a long length hairstyle, pictures of short hairstyles in formal galleries will show great hairstyles ideas for even the ear length hair.   The key to having great hair on prom night:  have fun with it!  This doesn’t mean to dye it all sorts of colors just to go out with a bang, unless of course you really want to.  But if you’re absolutely passionate about a certain look for the evening, go to a hairstylist a couple of weeks before the big day to try out the chosen look or even a few formal hairstyles and see if the reality of your finished do matches what you have in your mind.

Updo Hairstyles

For many years a traditional bun style, braided bun or French twist were all the rage until women everywhere broke out of their shells and sported more daring updos that were far less ridged and far more sexy.  Unless thrown back in a quick chignon, updos have always been more commonly worn for more classy events such as weddings, proms and other galas.  They’ve been fancied up with accessories and dressed down with loose falling hair and elastic bands.  Either way, they’re neat, chic and portray confidence on any woman.   When considering an updo, also consider accessories.  A veil for example has to fall nicely around the updo without troubling it.  Both veil and hair are accessories on their own and have to compliment each other.  Ones updo will have an great impact on their overall look.   For pictures of hair styles, any formal hairstyles gallery will provide spectacular dos for that special day.

Homecoming Hairstyles

Welcoming back former alumni and residents at universities, colleges and high school is a big tradition and therefore to many graduates, a very big deal.   It’s also a great way to show past teachers and students you finally or still got it goin’ on.   The homecoming dance with the traditional queen and king is often an elaborate event with men and women decked out to the nines and hair in fancy coifs.  Pony tails, updos, tiaras, flowers, so many decisions so little time.  With thousands of different hairstyles to choose from, homecoming attendees will have lots to work with.  Formal hairstyles have come a long way from chignons, curly buns and French braids.  With the incessant invention of new accessories and hair products, hair style ideas are limitless and both women and men can break tradition and funk-tify their dos.
