After many years of being nostril tormented with my strong auntie’s perfumes and body creams, I’ve always been hesitant to wear anything more powerful than the touch of a naturally light scented flower, until I discovered Crabtree & Evelyn Island Night perfume.

Perhaps the name sold me; truth be told I’m a sucker for anything tropical, but after all was said and done, the scent would either lure or repel. Gladly I can say not only did ‘Island Night’ perfume attract me, I wore it and received compliments all day. Launched by both Crabtree & Evelyn and India Hicks, this perfume is not only beautiful, it’s enjoyable, extremely sexy and perfect for evening, hence the name ‘Island Night’.

What I love about it mostly however is that I don’t need numerous sprays to leave a long lasting effect. One mist of the perfume in the air as I walked through it, captured the scent perfectly on my skin and in my hair, leaving just the right quality and quantity of aroma to last for hours.

In the creation of this perfume, India Hicks, daughter of famed British interior designer, David Hicks, and Goddaughter to Prince Charles is clearly influenced by the Caribbean and a delicious array of island flowers and trees. What’s the secret to this delicate scentual mélange - orchids, night-blooming flowers, orange blossom, green island palms and a woody musk accord. Can somebody say ‘the Garden of Eden’? Yumbo! For the extremely scent sensitive, other options of the lighter variety can be found in the Island Night creamy body wash or milky bath. The scent remains after the skin is dried off but one has to get right up to your skin to catch a whiff.

This spicy exotic floral fragrance coupled with the name of the perfume, had me wanting an immediate Island getaway. With Spring already here and summer around the corner, perhaps one can’t escape to the Bahamas or other tropical paradise but one can definitely imagine with the use of this delicious perfume. I’ve worn many perfumes in my lifetime but it takes a very special one for me to adopt it. Island Night is now a part of my permanent perfume family. Crabtree & Evelyn is available online and in more than 40 countries, with over 6,000 locations and 350 concept stores worldwide. This dramatic black decanter bottle in a ‘shagreen’ box holds the essence of a moonlit evening in the islands - captured in a floral heart of purple and white orchids, night-blooming jasmine, green island palms and orange blossom nectar, entwined with a woody musk accord.
