RETRO HALLOWEEN HAIRSTYLES

Halloween is more than merely singing 'trick or treat, smell my feet give me something good to eat'; costume parties also play a big role in the festivity and when it comes time to choosing the perfect long or short hairstyle to go with your look, millions of hairstyle photos can be found on the internet-starting right here at Hairstylesdesign, of course!

Don’t get left out in the cold this October by throwing any old hairstyle together to go with an otherwise perfect costume. If you’re taking a giant leap into the past, depending on which era you want to be in, you can get plenty of help from celebrity icons who even themselves, have fallen victim to bad fashion choices. Let’s go back to the days of Purple Rain, the Rubiks Cube, high top sneakers and acid washed jeans. The 80s were a time where everything brighter was hipper, anything mismatched was cool and bigger was definitely better-including hair. Spiked, brushed out and teased, hairstyles were equally as important as the outfit itself. Paula Abdul’s long hairstyle is a great 80’s example. In this day and age, her over-sized, over sprayed hairstyle might look like a big ol’ tangled mess of fuzz but back then it was the hottest thing around.

If you’re more a hoop puppy patterned skirt wearing kinda gal, opt for Tia Mowry’s 50s hairstyle and put on those bobby socks. Any twist or ponytail pulled to the side is made to be a 50’s retro hairstyle. Unlike the 80’s, hair is sleeker, well kept and often secured with pins and ponytail holders. The 80’s also had their version of the side ponytail-higher on the head and not as neatly worn.

Megan Fox’s look is a 50’s inspired rockabilly hairstyle with an over-sized lump for bangs. This look was highly popular back in the day of Johnny Cash and James Dean. Teamed with a sexy form fitting dress and bright red lipstick, you’ll be doing the jive in no time.

Medieval days, also known as the middle ages are ones of amazement and awe. The hairstyles were unlike many of today and on fancy occasions, the ladies would braid their hair into an immaculate display. If your Halloween costume is reaching that far back into history, at least do your costume the justice it deserves by creating a memorable medieval hairstyle.
