NO MORE DRAMA What Really Mattered At The VMAs

The VMA’s are over and the buzz of Kanye’s ridiculous rant has finally died down some but due to all the drama, attention wasn’t duly paid to celebrities who made a fashion impact- good and bad.   Taylor Swift was one of the ‘good attention’ grabbers.  Before she had her thunder stolen, she looked like a super model on the red carpet with her silvery-one shoulder dress and loosely falling ringlets.  Here are a few more of our best and worst statement making fashionistas.

Despite our dislike for Lady Gaga’s ‘Made in Mars’ silver getup, kudo’s to her for going entirely left wing in the wardrobe department.  I have one thing to say about her black outfit however, KAW...KAW.., ugh a crow is what inspired you for the red carpet Ms Gaga?  Slightly disturbing but I will say she had her hair in top shape with the pink highlights and a little Farrah Fawcett feathering going on.

I’m not too sure when the fringe bump came back into fashion but perhaps it’s due to my trying to pretend that it never existed. I was a victim of that look in 1987 and let’s just say, my secondary school photos are quickly untagged from Facebook should they ever find a home there. Alicia Keys however sported it far better than I could ever imagine and other celebrities like Madonna and Maria Menounos had a little bump going on as well.

Amber Rose...oh boy. That woman has some assets that shouldn’t be open to public viewing but I gotta give it to her; she can rock an animal print unitard like any other. Her hair, well as usual...was neat, tidy and very Amber Rose-ish.

I actually forgot Cassie shaved one side of her hair in a photo I saw of only her left side, I was SO sorry when I saw the picture of her right side and remembered. I guess it’s a matter of taste but I honestly can’t stand the shaved head/long haired look. If her hair were shorter on the left, it would transition more smoothly but at this length it just looks like something’s missing. Fortunately her facial features are just so striking that she semi pulls it off.

Another celebrity with striking features is J Lo. From every angle, in any outfit, Jennifer Lopez looks fantastic. Her hair is pulled right back off her face in an extra long nearly butt reaching braid. It’s a great hairstyle for the neckline of her dress and shoulders. A look like this can be played up by using great eye makeup- you want to draw more attention to the right facial features since there isn’t any hair to compliment.

Nelly Furtado is gorgeous, sophisticated and definitely a femme fatale in this black dress. With her black hair swept away from her face, her expressionistic eyes take center stage. Exposing only a bit of knee, she still looks sexy while maintaining an air of class.

Between Shakira and Pink, the question of the evening was ‘who wore it best?’ Pink, with her muscular stature held it up well while her short hairstyle exposed her neckline and shoulders and black heels lengthened and leaned out her legs. Tattoos were her accessories.

Shakira however, opted for an entirely different look wearing a pair of thigh high boots and leaving her straightened hair out. I would have personally preferred to see Shakira with her naturally crazy sexy curly hair. The curly hair really brings her roots out, Latin roots that is.

All in all, the VMA’s brought out some eye openers, head turners and mouth droppers in both the fashion and not so fashion sense but thankfully it gives bloggers some great material to draw from. See you at the next awards show!
