With the changing of every season, so should your hair care. That doesn’t mean switch products and shampoos entirely, more switch up the way you style your hair to accommodate the time of year. Ever leave your air conditioned house with freshly straightened hair feeling like a million bucks only to slam face first into what feels like a million degrees of humidity. Stop going against the grain of summer and flow with it by making simple changes in your hair care regimen that will make major differences in the way you look and feel about your hair.
One of the best pieces of advice someone gave me for hair care was to take a break from heat styling during the summer months and avoid pulling or tugging the hair when styling. Hair grows faster in warmer weather so if you stop breaking and damaging it with poor practices, by the time fall comes around your hair will be in much better shape. This pause also gives hair a chance to rejuvenate itself.
If you are accustomed to tighter pulled back hair, opt for a looser more carefree style with flowing waves and curls. A confident woman who doesn’t look too fussy is extremely sexy! Natural yes! Fussy no! Of course you have to pay SOME attention to your hair but it shouldn’t look like it spent hours to do.
Free, moving, easy to handle coifs! Damp hair finger twisted into coils will dry beautifully, even on the straightest hair adding lots of body. Braiding damp hair also allows hair to dry wavy when let loose; a perfect ‘day to evening’ look when time is of the essence. If you want to control crazy frizz, a simple serum, or a few drops of olive or coconut oil will do the trick but not too much is necessary or you might get the opposite result and appear flat.
Low ponytails with some oomph can be had with the bangs and some hair falling loosely around the forehead or on top of the head. Headbands and scarves are an adorable and easy solution to keeping hair from falling into the face; as long as the back of the hair is not tied too tightly or slick, it can be a great accessory for any day or evening hairstyle. Leave the bandanna at home for now; something more feminine is sweeter for the summer.
