Fancy Up Your Face For Fall With GIVENCHY

Posted in Products we love by Tina Kiss

I’ve never had a Givenchy product I didn’t like but could it be I just loved saying the name “jee-von-shee”. Maybe it was the prestige associated with it or perhaps it was simply the products. Since its initial introduction into the beauty industry, Givenchy has built its well earned reputation on packaging, class and most importantly, product quality. Famous faces have been ambassadors supporting the makeup line for years and HSD’s most recent exploration of some of the best makeup brands brought me right back to Givenchy - Best of all, all products can be found at none other than SEPHORA (1.877.SEPHORA).

Because I’m not a huge lipstick wearer, I tend to put it on around the edges of my lips and smudge inward; Rouge Interdit Lipstick in secret pink and its family member Rouge Interdit Shine Lipstick in Coffee Shine are fabulous to wear fully or partially the way I do with a line and a smudge. Just as great as the colors, is the Givenchy packaging; for easy carrying, they can be put on a key chain or hang from your purse zipper.

The claim that all eye makeup is alike is far from true. Sure it may look the same, feel the same and if you’re crazy enough to try it, it might even taste the same- but there’s one major thing that separates the mediocre from the best: quality and alright, perhaps the price too. How long the eye makeup lasts on your face, how many uses you can get out of it, can it sustain tears, harsh facial rubs yet come off easily with makeup remover. For all of these reasons and then some, Givenchy’s reputation is well earned with their eye cosmetics. The PARAD’EYES LIQUID LINER in ‘Dream In Black’ was soooo fine, I was able to create the finest precision line above my lid and even do some fancy schmancy upward slant. The best thing about it however, was that from early morning when I put it on, to late evening when I returned home, AFTER the gym, the eyeliner hadn’t budged. Phewf! At $27.00 USD a pop, you want to be sure it passes the sweat test!
The mascara was no different; EYE FLY MASCARA- the air sensation lash extender in Fly In Brown did my sorry excuse for lashes, justice. Thank Givenchy!! If you’re concerned about ever changing trends, you might want to opt for a safer color such as Fly In Black or Fly In Brown as they will eternally be in everyone’s cosmetic bag. Then again if you want to set your own trend, Givenchy’s gorgeous Fly In Blue and Fly In Violet will rev up any set of eyelashes. $24.00 USD for this long lasting makeup must have, ain’t so bad.
If you’re accustomed to paying 8 dollars for eye shadow palettes, you might scream OUCH at this one but Givenchy has a gorgeous set of colors in their PRISME AGAIN! Palettes and I was lucky enough to sample what I’d probably have bought in the store anyway, Precious Shimmer in metallic pale yellow/ metallic gray/ matte black/ metallic pale pink- trust me when I say these colors can carry you through the end of summer, to fall, to Christmas and right into the new year without ever looking ‘passe’. I LOVE this palette, perhaps my fave Givenchy find of the bunch. $50.00 USD...saying ouch yet? Don’t. If you can afford it, it won’t let you down.
For just under half the price, at $23 USD, Shadow show single color eyeshade can be had in a variety of gorgeous colors and you won’t feel like you worked half a day to buy it. Givenchy is one of those makeup lines that is buyer friendly, meaning you can pretty much buy anything they have and not be disappointed. If you’re especially pleased, as I was, you might find yourself saving your hard earned pennies to run out and buy their newest products.
