Damaging Products Beware SOMA Is Here

Television commercials say USE IT, so we use it; Professional Hairstylists say use it so we use it; but what exactly are we using anyway? Perhaps it slips our minds that television commercials are created to push products because they’re backed by the almighty dollar and some professional stylists aren’t even aware that the chemicals in many of the products they’re using are actually bad for the hair.
I was one of those people who’d pick up a product because I’d heard it did wonders for certain hair types: colored hair, frizzy hair, damaged hair…the word of the advertisement, pharmacist and stylist were more than enough to convince me to buy it. When I noticed my hair was beginning to fade from a dark brown to a near light brownish red, I realized that something inside of the products I was using must have been causing it.

It wasn’t long after I was introduced to SOMA.  I’ve since discovered them to be one of the very few companies that pride themselves in using the best of the best ingredients for hair care. A few of their amazing product characteristics are:
• Sulfate free
• Optimal 4.5-5.5 pH level
• Keratin & wheat protein
• 100 % vegan no animal testing no animal products
• 100% biodegradable
• Paraben & Formaldehyde-free Parabens have been used to prevent mold growth in personal care products for decades. Methyl paraben was first discovered on fruits such as blueberries.
• Alcohol free
• Hypoallergenic
• UVA & UVB Protection

Soma’s claim is that all of their products are made with paraben-free and formaldehyde-free preservatives so one can be 100 % certain their products are safe and offer no toxilogical hazards. I wanted to find out for myself however, despite the claims if it would offer my hair the ultimate treatment. To begin with, the products I sampled smelt great. This past the nose test. No matter how amazing a product is on the hair, if it doesn’t smell good, it’s enough to make me second think buying it.   The SOMA LEAVE IN CONDITIONER spray (8oz-$16) was excellent because it was light; still managed to leave my hair supple and tangle free when I used a wide toothed comb to it. The ingredient details are that it’s ‘made with organic Keratin Protein, a natural cuticle-binding protein that replaces lost acids, and cinnamidopropyltrimonium Chloride, a highly active UV absorber. An alcohol-detangler that will not weigh down even the finest of hair. Protects your hair year round.’

A skeptic most times, I actually believe this. I used it every 3rd day for 4 weeks after the WEIGHTLESS SHAMPOO (16oz-$20) and I loved the look and feel of my hair each time. Not to mention, because I was going to use other hair products after my wash, I did not want to make it any heavier with a creamy conditioner.

The CURLY CUE ENHANCING GEL (8oz-$20) and SOLACE ANTI FRIZZ (4oz -$22) were my hair products of choice due to my hair quality. I used to hear all sorts of nonsense about using tons of products on my hair but with SOMA, it was really the opposite. The shampoo, leave in conditioner and two styling products were all I needed to get my curls in tip top ringlety shape.

When I speak to most people about Soma, many aren’t even aware it exists which means that many aren’t using the best of the best products for their hair.

Take a moment and get educated on what exactly goes into your hair and then go to MYSOMAHAIR.COM to find a salon near you who sells it. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed, but your hair sure will be if you do not start treating it better!
