Before I wrote this review, I wanted to actually put myself in a position to benefit fully from Ouiad’s Sunshield Spray In Conditioner ($20/8 oz.) and Shine Glaze Serum ($26/4oz) and use them they way they are meant to be used. In doing so, I tried to enjoy a sun shiny day by the pool and see the results of the Sunshield Spray In Conditioner.
With the nice weather we’ve been having, I took advantage and sat on a friend’s deck a couple of weekends ago soaking in every one of those rays baby. I’m an avid sunscreen wearer but must admit to never really paying much attention to sun exposure on my hair.
Because I generally tend to use cream based conditioners, I wasn’t sure how this would fare in my normally matted curly locks but I was genuinely surprised. I followed my usual routine of combing my fingers through my curls making sure each set received equal attention and the right amount of spray in each section and realized this strongly resembled a de-tangler. Even though I generally associate the name conditioner with ‘after’ shampoo, Ouidad’s Sunshield Spray In Conditioner is to be sprayed on BEFORE sun, saltwater and chlorine exposure. I didn’t see a huge difference in terms of how my hair looked when it dried completely, but knowing my hair was wearing an ‘invisible’ hat so to speak, made me feel much better about sitting out in the sun for so long.
Sunshield with wide toothed comb - a great combination if you want to get a slightly finer curl than with your fingers.
The Shine Glaze Serum is another product recently discovered that I put to the test when my hair was totally dry. Despite the length of my curls, I didn’t need a ton of it because it disperses wonderfully in the hands. My hair was so soft after using it not to mention it did add the shine it promised and didn’t leave my hands sticky which might sound silly, but sticky product hands are really one of my biggest pet peeves. The best thing about the glaze though is that it isn’t only for curly hair. Samantha my colleague used it in hers and achieved GORGEOUS results with magnificent shine. I was a bit envious in that moment to not have straighter hair as the shine bounced off her head like a light was on it.
