With the warmer weather rearing its glorious head, so too are the latest but questionably greatest fashions of the seasons to come. But are these brazen catwalk styles better left to the super models or can the every day gal sport them without looking ridiculous.
Certain styles never really go out of style they merely take a break so as to reinvent themselves then return with a vengeance twice, thrice or 4 times over. This spring/summer, be sure to see styles reminiscent of a decade or two ago when women were sporting head to toe geometric, jumpsuits and shoulder pads, they were also big on pink, ruffles and velvet, some of the very styles seen on the runway this season; The theme of these collections, feminine. Fortunately several of these blast from the past trends have merely reinvented themselves and can be taken from the catwalk to the sidewalk with ease.
What’s hot for Spring
Neon pink: Goodbye white snow hello bright pink! What’s cooler than the color of rosy pink lips or a baby pink top? A hot pink dress or coat that screams look at me! What better way to bring in the new season than with a color that makes everything pop and gives everything around it life. Now the idea here isn’t to go head to toe neon but vamp up your wardrobe with a few bigger items than your bra and underwear. Go big with pink and sport it not as an accent but as the item itself. Not only will you draw good attention to yourself, you’ll lift your spirits with this mood enhancing color. If you love the color but are concerned it won’t suit your skin tone, fear not. Neon pink in a highlighter hue tends to work on almost all skin tones.
Red and pink together: dare you? Yes, you dare. The ever unpopular red and pink combination was turning heads on the runway for a couple of these past Spring/Summer collections and finally risk takers decided to go against the grain of what works and create something that will work because more and more people will be wearing it. Dare to follow suit by wearing these two loud colors as a pair? Pair them together with the always safe black and be sure to make heads turn in awe.
One-shoulder dresses: We at Hairstylesdesign.com are certain we hate winter more than anyone else which is why when sexy spring styles emerge we hurry to remove the layers and dress in 1 item only. Our item of choice from the spring/summer collection, one shoulder dresses. What better way to ring in spring with some pretty spring dress shopping. This arm baring style should never go ‘out’. The sexy asymmetrical trend draws attention to one shoulder but also exposes a whole heap of neck which feminizes any dress or shirt. We say ‘ooh lala’.
Strapless ruffled dresses:Party girls galore will rush for this style, though it hasn’t exactly ever gone out. Let’s call it the new and improved look with a sexy girly ruffled hem. This entire combination is very feminine and with no straps, a gorgeous necklace would do this look extreme justice. This isn’t reserved for the prom goers only, grown and sexy adults can pull this look off with the right set of heels and attitude.
Peplum jackets: Having an ultra feminine motif for the spring/summer collections, it’s no surprise the peplum has re-arisen. This cutesy little jacket with a curled up hem is really just fancy wording for a short coat with a skirt at the bottom. These are the perfect means to add the final touch to a pair of black pants or dress up any pair of jeans. Worn with a simple white t-shirt, dark jeans and heels, you’re sure to turn heads.
Color blocking: Clueless? Clashing two or three color combinations such as fuchsia with a vivid shade of fluorescent yellow, orange or green. Think chunky well defined shapes full of contrasting colors! This trend has been seen every now and again but since hitting the runway, prepare for it to make its way to the streets like yesterday. The next time you hit the mall, pay close attention to the color explosion in every store. When jumping onto this trend, feel free to clash but stick to colors that work great for you. Orange and yellow are more challenging to pull off so why not dive into the many hues of blues or reds and pinks. Either way, having fun with color can be had at any age so don’t’ frown on this trend because you’re older than 20.
