You’ve only been dating for 2 months and his birthday is right around the corner. You’ve already decided to buy him something and he’s casually mentioned needing some new clothes but a million questions are running through your head as you pace the aisles of a high end designer store: what size?..what length?..but most importantly what style?
If he’s over the age of 17, chances are he wouldn’t wear a t shirt that reads “There's too much blood in my alcohol system” then again, maybe he would. Consider his age, his lifestyle and his taste when buying your man clothes. But again, you have to be seen holding his hand so consider that too!
Some women rejoice in going shopping for their man but for many others, it’s a nightmare! Here are some ways you can make your ‘male’ shopping experience a little more delightful.
Whether its work, the gym, a fancy dinner, football games or meeting your parents, everyone has different moods and events in their lives and particular styles to go along with them. Men are no different even though they come from Mars.
If you’ve only seen your beau every evening after work, then you are probably more familiar with his office attire, lets say a business suit for added sexiness, than you are with his laid back casual look or sporty vibe. If that’s the case, you better get your hands in his wardrobe to get a clue or ask him plentiful questions to get some ideas. “What’s your favorite color? Do you prefer prints or solids? Who’s your favorite fashion designer?”.
A good way to gage his sense of style is to flip through men’s fashion magazines and see if he points out things he’s attracted to, or do something he’ll absolutely love such as bring him shopping with you. That was sarcasm by the way. I can hear his protesting already but he’ll be easily convinced it won’t be that bad if you assure him it’s to get his opinion on clothing for you. You might just need a new baby doll nighty now that you think of it…Men tend to be gung ho about those sorts of things.
Once in the stores, linger around the men’s section and pay close attention to his eyeing certain things for himself. If he picks up several items in a similar shade or family of colors, you can bet your bottom dollar to follow that trail. Listen closely for any good or bad comments he makes about a given item and in fact, encourage his opinion by picking up some things you think will suit him and see if he agrees.
Something good to discover about men are jeans. There are so many styles, shades, brands and cuts, if you can get his opinion about what sort he prefers you’ll be one step ahead of many clueless girlfriends. It would be an awfully embarrassing scenario to buy your honey a pair of pants and watch him squeeze them up his thighs as he lays on the bed to roll up the zipper. This is sexy for a woman; most definitely not for a man.
When it comes to fashion and seeking out the latest trends, you don’t have to jump on a certain band wagon just because all of Sean Johns models are sporting them on the cat walk. Not many men can pull off a chinchilla fur hat off stage, nor should they. Unless your boyfriend is trying to play the role of super model, you might want stay away from anything too elaborate.
If your man’s fashion sense is always fresh and up to date, you probably won’t have a problem choosing him something that’s ‘a la mode’. If however he has no fashion sense whatsoever, buying him what you think he’ll look good in will probably be your best bet. In a worst case scenario, at least you’ll want to jump his bones every time you see him in those ankle tapered pants.
