HOLD YOUR HEAD UP HIGH - 5 Steps to Confidence

1) SIMPLE: Dress your mood - We always feel better about our appearance if we wear what we want to wear, not what we have to wear. If you wake up on a Monday morning and feel a bit lazy, you still have to dress the part for work but why not downplay the business suit with a cotton wife beater under your blazer and a pair of matching cotton undies under your skirt. For happiness, wear colors that reflect your mood; Sunshine yellow, pumpkin orange, fire engine red and everything else bright and cheerful. The key to dressing your mood is to wear things that make you feel great and avoid anything that prevents you from feeling self assured. The more confident you become overall, the more you’ll be able to wear almost anything and pull it off.

DRASTIC: Dress the part - Pretend you’re in a movie and suddenly become your favorite actress in her most admirable confident role. How does she dress? What’s her style statement? If you grab trends from a self assured character in your favorite flick, you’ll hold your head up higher and carry yourself in a positive way. Just don’t get lost in the role you’re playing of the role she’s playing. Although your style could be influenced by fashion trends of your favorite celebrities, never forget to let the real you shine through!

2) SIMPLE: Go with the latest fashion trends - Go grab the latest fashion magazine and read up on what the stars are wearing! The best way to stay ‘in the know’ is to go straight to the designers but to do that, you’ll probably see it on the catwalk or red carpet first. If it exists, you can find it! Without spending a pretty penny, you can find many of these similar styles at stores that sell major designer brands for less or generic brands in the same trendy styles for much less. On your next shopping day, try on some clothes that will make you feel the way you want to feel, classy, sexy but most of all confident.

DRASTIC: Go against the latest fashion trends - It takes a very confident person to go against the grain. But once you do and realize you’ve lived through it, you’re ready to continue your trend of going against the trends. Who says you have to wear skirts with tights, or skinny jeans? Why not reinvent the wheel by putting some funky styles together from your own vain imaginings. You don’t have to fall victim to the runway or magazines, instead rummage through your closet and see what you can come up with.

3) SIMPLE: Expose yourself by pulling your hair off of your face – Scraping your hair from your face immediately brightens you up. Certain styles might not suit everyone however. Longer oval faces for example might do better with just a bandeau pulling the bangs back as opposed to a ponytail. Now everyone including yourself can really see your face in its entirety and this is the statement of a very confident woman.

DRASTIC: Cut your hair shorter
– Samson was known for his long locks claiming they gave him strength. But we all know that while the length of our hair doesn’t affect our physical strength, it can definitely affect our mental strength also known as confidence. Some women only feel sexy and desirable with long hair, whipping it around knowing men love to play in it but how do women with short hair manage to feel the same confidence with many inches shorter on their head? It starts from within. Taking the drastic change to cut your hair in a pixie style might be a bit intimidating at first but you can do it in increments of several trims at a time; just past the shoulders, to the neck, to the ears, bingo! Cut your hair; expose your neck and more of your face. You’ll have fun playing up your makeup or clothes to bring out your new do.

4) SIMPLE: Buy some sexy lingerie – If you’re single, you might not be inspired to head to the store and try on a bunch of silky undergarments or thigh high socks but who says you need a relationship to do it for yourself! Whether online or at the store, you can definitely find a piece that is right for you. Something as simple as a matching bra and panty set under your work uniform, a pair of jeans and a t-shirt or a jogging suit will make you look fantastic knowing you’re hot underneath the exterior but the confidence you’ll feel will be priceless!

DRASTIC: Take a pole dancing class - Having the ability to whip out some smoking moves when put on the spot to do a slithery dance will amaze your partner and yourself if you’re well prepared. Taking a pole dancing or strip aerobics class will not only keep you in great shape but will build your self confidence as you build your skills. Be a sensual prowess by honing a talent that will make you feel sexy. Whether you have the chance to put it into practice or not is irreverent, just knowing you can when you want to gives you the right amount of confidence to hold your head up high.

5) SIMPLE: Wear the right bra – It sounds simple because it is but so many women do not wear or even own a bra that is right for their body type. If your breasts hang over the top, stick out from the sides or expose too much back fat from behind your arm pits, you are not wearing the right bra. If you are still sporting the same bra you’ve had for the past 7 years just because your breast size hasn’t changed, you are not wearing the right bra. If your bra is rising up in the back and pulling you down in the front you are not wearing the right bra. Go out and get fitted by a professional in the bra section of any department store or lingerie shop and get yourself a bra that holds you, flatters you and most importantly makes you feel fantastic.

DRASTIC: Get that extra lift – So you’ve found the right bra, Congratulations! Now you want to add a little oomph to your décolleté by keeping the right size, color and style but adding some much desired cleavage. Choose a bra that will lift and squeeze your breasts together giving you the same amount of support. A quality bra should never be sacrificed for the sake of style. Your breasts will thank you for it!
