Eating Right For Healthy Hair

How you can get the best looking locks just by eating certain foods. Healthy hair doesn’t only come from finding the right products; your diet affects your hair much more than you think!

Eating a healthy diet will not only give you more energy and a trim looking body, but it can also make your greatest accessory look even better.

Balance is one of the key factors in eating right, and eating proper amounts of high-quality protein, grains, fruits and vegetables is essential. Fruits and vegetables are a very important part of that balance, and 40-50% of your daily intake should be fruits and vegetables.

Here are some other ways to keep your hair looking its best:

Take Your B Vitamins

While it may be something that your mom used to nag you about when you were young, vitamins are very important for healthy hair growth. Vitamin B is especially important for strong hair and it can be found in everyday foods such as bread or eggs.

Be careful if you are on a low or no-carb diet, as much of the vitamin B that our body needs comes from grains such as oats, barley and wheat bran. Some vitamin B rich foods you can try that don’t contain grains are: eggs, avocados, salmon and nuts.

Hydrate

Drinking enough fluids on a daily basis is important for flushing out the toxins in your system and keeping your hair looking its best.

As you’ve heard over and over again, those 8 glasses of water a day are important not only for healthy skin, but for healthy hair as well. Other beverages such as tea can be beneficial for stronger hair. Try an exotic alfalfa and dandelion tea on your next break at work rather then coffee which will only dehydrate your body and work against the benefit of stronger healthier hair.

Protein And Omega-3

While more and more people are becoming vegetarians, protein is essential to healthy hair, as hair itself is 98% protein. Meats are a major source of protein, but fish especially have the Omega-3fatty acids (don’t worry its good fat!) that your body needs.

For those of you who are on a vegeterian diet, flax seed is a good source of protein. Sprinkling some flax over your morning cereal is a good way to eat up this excellent protein. Other protein rich foods like nuts, brown rice, soya chick peas are all healthy options to maintain good protein intake.

Vitamins, water, and protein filled foods are just some of the ways that you can eat well for healthy hair. Starting a routine of healthy eating will not only make your body feel good, but promises to keep your hair healthy and shinning.
