We all go through moments of excitement where we actually believe we’re going to stand by our commitments to ourselves but life suddenly gets in the way and before we know it, we’re back to reliving our life of last year and worst of all ignoring our own personal wellbeing.
While one can’t force you to keep your resolutions, one can definitely suggest 5 beauty related things that will kick start your year into full gear. And the best thing about it – you’ll be pampering yourself while on your way to a better lifestyle.
1) Get yourself a pedicure: while pedicures are great for making your toes look pretty, they’re even better for another reason. The foot massage. Bet you didn’t know that each foot has more than 7000 nerve endings! The sensation your foot feels when getting rub a dub dubbed in that foot tub is soothing and yet stimulating. It helps you to relax but also invigorates you because of the many nerve endings. It feels fantastic, looks fantastic and will put you in the frame of mind to get on those feet and make things happen!
2) Get yourself a facial: sounds easy to simply put some sand with a bar of soap and scrub scrub scrub those dead skin cells away but you’ll probably end up doing more damage to your skin than good. While frequent professional facials aren’t always affordable, once every few months is a good start and why not start in January? A facial revives your face, removes old skin cells yes, but it also makes you look more alive because it revitalizes. A deep pore facial will remove your black heads, tighten up your skin and moisturize it so as to combat possible nasty winter weather ahead.
3) Get your hair a trim: cutting a tenth of an inch off by yourself isn’t exactly what I mean. A real good hearty trim that removes all split ends and unwanted frizz is a necessity every couple of months. If you want to go a little extra drastic, go for an all out hairstyle change! It feels nice to go to a salon and be completely catered to- your head lying back on that chair getting a nice scalp massage. You simply can’t get the same head sensation doing it yourself.
4) Get a massage: with the foot massage, face massage and scalp massage- surely you knew we’d be getting to an actual body massage. To many people, a massage is a luxury but it really is a necessity. Whether you can afford for a professional to do it or not is not an excuse to not get one. You have friends with hands? Use them! Trade services and give them one in return. We neglect ourselves so much that when we get a massage, verbal oohs and ahhs are released from months of stiffness. A massage is something that relaxes and invigorates just as much as the pedicure if not more. Don’t begin the year off putting yourself last, take care of your body by having it nurtured and what better way than to have your tense muscles relaxed.
5) Get your physical and mental health in top shape. Its one thing to say you’ll go to the gym and eat well but are you a true testament to your words? Your overall health should be your number one priority. If you’ve decided to lose 15 lbs, gain 10, become a better runner, a stronger swimmer, do it!! Actually contrive a plan on how to achieve this goal. Hire a personal trainer if that’s what inspires you, join a gym, read books of motivation, join an internet chat site for support, involve your friends with similar goals but whatever you do, don’t stray from yours. This January, vow to yourself that you’ll put YOU first. Everything else and everyone else will naturally fall into place once you’re in the right mental and physical shape. Go get em tiger!
